Privacy

The short version: what you put in Ours is only for the two of you, and it's all deleted once you've both left.

What we keep

• Your names, the city each of you picks, and your dates (when you got together, when you met, your next visit).
• What you send each other: I love yous, moods, statuses, greetings, hugs, photos of the day, voice notes, gallery photos and videos, profile pictures, letters, reasons for the jar, and moments in your story.
• Each phone's time zone, so the clocks are right and reminders arrive in your evening.
• If you turn on location sharing: your phone's latest location, so your person can see where you are on the map. Only the most recent spot is kept, never a history, and turning sharing off (or leaving) deletes it.
• If you turn on notifications, the address your phone's browser gives us for sending them. Notifications carry no text; your phone asks the app what to show.

What we don't do

• No accounts, no ads, and we don't sell or share anything you put in Ours.
• No hidden tracking. Neither of you can see what the other one opens or reads.
• Your location is never shared unless you turn it on yourself, only your person can see it, and we never keep a history of where you've been.

Who can see it

Each of you has your own private link. Anyone with your link can open your side, so keep it private. The invite link works only once: when your person joins, they get a new link of their own, and the invite stops working.

Other services

Everything is stored with Cloudflare, which hosts the site. City search and the weather come from Open-Meteo: when you search, it receives what you type, and to show the weather your phone asks it about the two cities you picked. Map pictures come from OpenStreetMap, which sees which part of the map your phone is showing. Neither receives your names or anything else.

To stop one connection from starting a huge number of apps, we briefly keep a scrambled version of the connection's address that can't be turned back into it.

Deleting it

Either of you can leave from Settings (at the bottom of Home). Leaving closes the app for you and stops your notifications, but nothing is deleted while the other person is still there, and you can come back any time. Once you've both left, everything (names, cities, photos, videos, voice notes, letters and messages) is deleted for good 7 days later. If either of you comes back before then, nothing is deleted. If the other person never joined, leaving deletes everything right away.

Before leaving, you can download your letters, both jars, your story and your photos as one file. Voice notes beyond the newest 200 are removed automatically.

Age

You need to be at least 16 to use Ours.
